4 Monthday!

Happy 4 Monthday Rory! (yesterday)

It's a rainy February here in Seattle....

Rory is mastering the smile...well, kind of.  He's stubborn like his great-grandma (and like his mom) so he chooses when smiling seems appropriate.  Often when the "wipers go swish swish swish" he'll smile, and he loves when Joe gets into a good giggle (but Joe has the best giggle).  Other than that, he smiles first thing in the morning, and then choice fully throughout the day.  But when they come, they are SO good.

Nice hair, dude!
Our greatest updates are the very special visitors we have had the past two weekends!  Michelle came out to visit two weekends ago and we had such a great time introducing her to Rory.  Then, Lauren came up last weekend! Rory felt pretty special that she flew across the entire country to be with him.  It was a great weekend.  We enjoyed showing Lauren some our favorite Seattle spots and Rory enjoyed sleeping on her.  He seems to just love her.  On Monday, Lauren and Rory spent the first half of the day together while I went to work, and then the three of us went out adventuring.  I loved having her here, we really miss her already.  Looking forward to another visit that includes Uncle Nathan!

He LOVED to snuggle on Lauren!
They have matching blue eyes!

Michelle bought this outfit for Rory in Guatemala when he was just a sparkle in our eye!
She looks good with a baby in her arms!
While Rory really is thriving (weighs 14 lbs 8 oz, though most of it is stored in his cheeks) the past couple of months have been rough on his reparatory system and on our sleep.  He got his first cold over Christmas and has not come out of it since.  The cold seems to change forms and for the past 3 weeks we've in the coughing stage.  About 3 weeks ago after he began vomiting from coughing, they told us he has bronchialitis, and unfortunately there was no magic medicine for it - that it should only last 2 weeks.  Well, Thursday of last week marked the 14th night in a row that he was up for over an hour at night coughing until he vomited and I was done.  I called the doctor pretty much begging for her to do something.  They finally gave him antibiotics, and he was better in just one day!  Praise the Lord!

Have I mentioned that our nanny is amazing?  Truly.  She and her daughter, Hannah are our angels.  Last week they watched Rory at our apartment because Fin has been sick.  (Very sick, actually, though doing much better now.  Poor boys.)  Not only did we come home on Tuesday to a happy, well-fed, clean-diapered, rested Rory, but our ENTIRE APARTMENT had been organized and cleaned!  She'll say she didn't clean, but trust me - it was clean!  Even our linen closet looked miraculous.  Our home has never looked as good as it did!  She's amazing.

Other than that, things have been good and normal around here.  Now that Rory is feeling better we're all sleeping more.  Other than that, we play under the activity mat, bounce in our bouncy chair, and swing...in between snuggling with Mom or Dad.

And in case you were wondering what Rory looks like at 4 months...here's a few pictures!

Love you all!

More babies!  These ones are from our birth class.
This is our lovely birth class teacher, Penny.  (She's famous, FYI)

Yes, I have cute boys.
Super baby!!!
Aunt Lauren thought he needed some caffeine.
Erin, Eli, and Rory.  Eli and Rory are much more interested in the TV.
Big cousin Eli practicing for baby with Rory!
We were dancing to Whitney Houston.

A Day in the Life of Rory

Hello all!  No ground-breaking news around here, but lots of pictures!

I'm happy to report that I'm still loving work.  I feel so much more balanced than I did when I was just at home.

And Rory has quite the life while Joe and I are working to bring home the bacon.  We still just love Shauna and Hannah.  They send us such amazing pictures, and there's no doubt that Rory is loved and having an adventure!  His friend Fin, who is just 8 months, is taking his first steps!  No doubt Shauna will (and already does) have her hands full, but she loves them so much.  She's encouraging Fin to love Rory as well!  Check out these pictures!

Here's Fin helping to feed Rory!

Shauna, Fin, and Rory out for a walk.

Fin thinks Rory is very interesting!

And is always quite helpful!

Rory LOVES his Shauna and Hannah!

We still have our PEPs group each week and it makes Wednesday night one of our week's highlights.  Every Wednesday night we meet at someone's house and eat dinner together and talk.  There's 7 couples with 7 adorable babies.  Here's our couch picture from the last two weeks.

Naomi and Rory were born on the same day and really love to lean on each other!

Here's my boys:

Oh God, help me!

And finally, here's some pics of the many faces of Rory!

Thanks for reading and dealing with all of my pictures!  We love you all!
