Rory is hungry...
In efforts to update a little more often, I'm here for another post! I won't clog your inbox with notifications all the time…just once and awhile!
We are doing well and settling into our new crib. Our new house that is…Rory wants absolutely nothing to do with his crib. While Rory sleeps great while cuddling with Joe or I, he's not a fan of sleeping alone. We haven't exactly figured out what to do about this (after a few tries at letting him scream, we've abandoned that idea). But, I guess we should be thankful that he is peacefully sleeping…albeit in a less than ideal location. Regardless, we love our new house...but we need to seriously pull it together. We haven't even unpacked our bathroom yet...
Rory's next big milestone is approaching quickly - FOOD. At our doctor's recommendation we waited as close to six months as possible to introduce food. Now, with his six monthday approaching next week, we have no idea what to do! We've put all of our eggs into the basket of this "First Foods" class that we'll be attending on Saturday to get a feel for how to do this well. Joe has an amazing food processor (thanks Dad & Francine, never guessed we'd be using it for this) and so we plan to blending up our own baby food as these hippies tend to do in the NW. (We are evolving…please keep us grounded, Midwesterners.) At Rory's 4 month doctor's appt. he hadn't revealed any signs of interest in food. Now, when we eat he follows every bite chewing on his tongue the entire time. I actually feel guilty for holding out on him. We'll see what we learn this weekend, but I think it's time…
Part of my hesitation to bringing food into the picture is certainly due to the realization of how quickly time has passed. I love our 6 month old Rory. It is SO fun to hear him talk and giggle. It's amazing how he smiles when he sees you. I love him more and more everyday. But there is grieving that comes with him growing up. I feel like I can't capture each moment long enough before its already gone and he's onto something else…rolling over, sitting in a highchair, moving in a walker…But, the reality is that Rory will grow up too fast. The only thing I can do is enjoy today. So if that means real food, so be it!
Rory and I are about to take our first trip without Joe. I am a little nervous about the travel time, and we will certainly be missing Joe. We're heading to St. Louis for a quick weekend trip with hopes of getting some good, quality family time. We've been anticipating the trip for 2 months, so I'm excited that we're just about a week away!
I've been taking a lot of video lately because Rory is really into talking. Not so much into rolling over anymore (hasn't in several weeks) but really into talking. It's funny because if he had a big day with the nanny (trip to the mall), when I pick him up he won't shut up! It really seems like he's telling us all about it. He's a goofball. Anyways, if/when I find the time and best way to upload those videos, I'll send them your way!
Hope everyone is doing well. See many of you very soon.
Love,
Robyn

Movin' and Shakin'
It has been WAY too long.
In some ways it seems like nothing has happened in the past month…and in others our entire world has changed.
Let's start with the biggest changes…We bought a townhome! Yep, we can't believe it either, but we did and we moved in last weekend. We could not be happier. Seriously, we feel SO blest…like we won that mega-million lotto. Actually, we feel poor, so we definitely don't feel like we won the lotto…but we LOVE our new home!
It's just about a mile away from our apartment in an amazing neighborhood called Magnolia. We jumped on the opportunity because of the location, and I'm so glad we did! We now have an official guest room & bathroom so we're ready for visitors!
Rory has been adjusting quite well, though he's been exhausted! We feel his pain.
Speaking of our little guy…he is doing great! I've found a source of cheap OshKosh overalls and now I'm hooked! There is nothing cuter than Rory in small overalls. Nothing.
There are definitely signs that teeth are coming (in fact if you lift up his lips you can see the whole front row sitting underneath his gums. It's kind of disgusting actually. For some reason I had this fantasy that teeth just appeared…not that they were under your gums the whole time!) Anyways, one day we're hoping to see them come down out of his gums. :)
He's well into his 6th months of life and will celebrate his first half birthday when we are in St. Louis for a quick weekend visit with Grandmas! Unfortunately, we're leaving dad behind for some good relaxin'.
Rory is happy and laid back most of the time. When he wants something (food, love, clean pants) he will not hesitate to let you know….but once you satisfy him, he's back to his happy self! We actually have grown to appreciate his communication skills.
He has officially rolled over 5 times…but hasn't done so in about 3 weeks. He's a stubborn fellow.
He LOVES bathtime! He kicks like it's his business! Lucky of him, i signed him up for swim lessons in May!
When he's not kicking he's trying to bounce or scoot!
He and Fin are becoming really good friends! They even go clothes shopping together!
Rory is so excited to be able to sit in his own highchair!
I'm a little worried about the french kisses he's been giving me lately...especially with eyes like those!
He has some great bed head and is a fabulous snuggler!
He loves his Mr. Monkey...we might have forced the issue. And here's those great communication skills.
He's currently enjoying some Grandma Rosey and Grumpy love!
But long story short...he's one cool dude!
We love and miss you all!
