Anyways, we've had about 2 weeks of peace and quiet in the pregnancy - no red flags, unexpected ultrasounds or infected organs. Life, however, rarely is without excitement around here.
Today is a HUGE day for our family because today we officially became Aunt Robyn and Unkie Joe of Cora, Melia and Peyton Maier! Yep, today was a triple adoption! Years in the making it is hard to believe that today made it all official but we couldn't be happier for Geoff, Stacey and the kids. Here's a picture from their big day at the courthouse - we only wish we could have been there.
This weekend we accompanied our friend Derek to Vancouver. We originally had this trip planned with our friend Tommy when an appendectomy got in the way - so we tried again and this time were successful. Derek was heading there to run a half marathon (which he dominated) and we just took advantage of the beautiful weather. The city was beautiful and I still can't comprehend that after just 3 hours in the car we must use a different currency. (A lot of different currency - it is SO expensive there. $5.30 for a gallon of gas.)
And on the baby front - things seem to be progressing....if the growth of my stomach is any indication anyways. I am about to pop the button on my last pair of jeans that fit, so today I went to Target and tried to find a new wardrobe. For better of worse it isn't the type of weight gain that triggers anyone to think I'm pregnant. They probably are wondering what I've been eating for dessert as of late. I'd have lots of answers about my dessert cravings if someone were bold enough to ask! Today was also my first day of unemployment. I'm hoping it is one of few so I'm trying to enjoy it. I visited Joe at work and met all of his colleagues. No surprise to me but you just can't even describe how much those people love him there. I am so happy he is surrounded by such good people...and that those people can see just how good he is.
Books make it confusing - but while today is the first day of the thirteenth week it may or may not be the beginning of the second trimester. But each week we feel like we've jumped a huge hurdle and are happy to be about 1/3 the way there! The terrible symptoms seem to be fading as has been promised to me and I'm happy to say goodbye to the nausea and general discomfort. So for now, if feeling fat is the worst of it, I'll take it! We imagine the baby is about 2 inches long now and full of its own features down to hair follicles and fingernails. We're less than 2 months away from identifying its gender and we just can't wait to find out!
We'll be seeing most of you around the midwest late next week and we can't wait! I'm up for Imo's Pizza for anyone who is game. Hope everyone is well.
Love,
Robyn
