A year later

There's really no good way or time to revisit a blog after a year of silence...especially when your last post was about an amazing vacation to Hawaii.  So, I'll ignore the time lapse and just keep going.

I'm sitting in Rory's room in the rocking chair, while Rory works hard to avoid laying in his 'big boy' bed and going to sleep.  This has been about a two week endeavor of switching to the toddler bed.  A regrettable decision when Rory showed interest a few weeks back. Some nights aren't as bad as others to actually get him to lay down or even fall asleep but we've had only 1 successful overnight.  Usually it's around 1 or 3 am when we hear 'ma ma? da da?' coming from his room behind the baby gate that we have installed inside his doorway. The gate works pretty well, I mean, it contains him...

We're less than one week away from finding out whether we'll soon have another son or our first daughter.  It's unbelievable that we're pregnant, let alone that we're almost 20 weeks pregnant.  We're very excited but to be honest haven't had the time or energy to actually think about what is ahead of us. And probably that's for the best since most of what is ahead is completely unknown.

We're sad to not be spending tomorrow, Thanksgiving, with our family in the midwest but the thought of traveling right now seemed like the wrong way to end a fulfilling yet intensely overwhelming year. So we're staying put, Joe is cooking a turkey, a few friends (including Michelle!!!!) are coming over and hopefully we're going to have a wonderfully relaxing day.

Hopefully you'll hear from me again sooner than 11 months from now.

Love,
Robyn
